You will be having a test on Chapter 6 on Friday, November 21st. Sections to be covered include the following: 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.5, 6.6, and 6.9.

*** Reminder: Your foldables are also due on the 21st at the time of the test. Make sure that your foldables are neat. Include some colour and have fun with it!

For the long weekend, you should be preparing for your science quiz on Tuesday (6.1 and 6.2). As well, Monday we will be correcting the answers to questions from these two sections along with the concept map you were given on Tuesday.

You should be working on the first two sections of your foldables as well. Remember, keep the words brief and use diagrams to help you. It should work as a study guide when completed.

Chapter 5 Test

Compare a cell to.....Assignment.

For this assignment, you will compare a cell to a thing or place. You may not compare a cell to a city as this is what we used as an example in class. Your assignmnet should be approximately 1 page in length. Half of the page will consist of a neatly labeled diagram of the thing or place that you are comparing the cell to. The bottom half of the paper will work as a key in which you will describe the labeled part and why you compared it to that specific organelle. A minimum of 7 organelles must be used.

Scoring Guide:
Diagram that uses at least 1/2 a page (1 pt.), neat (1pt.), and labeled (1pt.).
Each organelle that is discussed accurately in comparison to a part of the structure drawn merits 1 point for a maximum of 7 points.

Whenever you do research for a report, you must cite your sources. This list will make up your bibliography. The authors should be listed in alphabetical order

Book:
Author’s last name, First name. Title of book. Place of publication: Publisher, copyright year.

Webpage:
Author’s last name, First name. “Title of article”. Title of webpage. Date posted. Website address.
Sometimes the author may not be available.

Global Scientist Research Paper (homework) Due Date: September 29, 2008

You are to choose a scientist from around the world and write a 2-page, doubls-spaced, typed report (12 pt font, Times New Roman) on their background and contributions to the scientific world. You must have your scientist approved by myself by Monday, September 15th to ensure that no two students are researching the same scientist. Don't forget to cite your sources.

The first paragraph should include biographical information (when they were born, where they grew, up, etc.). The remainder of the paper should focus on how they contributed to science.
